They are planted by landscape architects all over California, including in my parents' garden. Good for you for bringing them inside!Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10404180898034770946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903271386070223045.post-65635953309833222862014-01-01T17:58:56.816-05:002014-01-01T17:58:56.816-05:00I'm really looking forward to the texture that...I'm really looking forward to the texture that the buckthorn offers. And I plan to do whatever I want - until I hate what I've decided upon and change it up (which happens all of the time) :) Kathrynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08101274476936267801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903271386070223045.post-83805608364656015222014-01-01T17:53:49.769-05:002014-01-01T17:53:49.769-05:00I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn...I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't know what an upright globe looks like. I do like bright colors so the Nandina may work for me, though as I did buy it for the berries (that I will no longer let grow), it better have some other redeeming qualities!Kathrynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08101274476936267801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903271386070223045.post-88066120766359196322014-01-01T00:01:03.013-05:002014-01-01T00:01:03.013-05:00Thanks for cutting the berries off the nandina! Sometimes in a small space, one of a type of shrub has a greater impact than multiples. Besides, it's YOUR garden. Do whatever you want! :o)Casa Mariposahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16647089868277238456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1903271386070223045.post-13336525014789744322013-12-30T20:03:35.176-05:002013-12-30T20:03:35.176-05:00I like that pretty Fernleaf cypress a lot -- but w...I like that pretty Fernleaf cypress a lot -- but what a confused character he seems to be! It will be interesting to see how it actually grows for you (upright globe??) -- it will be fun as you nurture it and see it develop. Nandina was a plant I could not warm up to, and I only had it for a season. The fall color was too pinky bright, and it didn't fit my plan, but it might be just the pop of color and just the shape for your narrow area (the poison berries are a concern though). I'll look forward to seeing how these 3 work out in your allee!Laurriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13657951570419825095noreply@blogger.com
