Too much purple

I was looking around last night and realized that, except for the
Oriental poppies, everything in bloom right now is purple.
In another few weeks, I'll be complaining that there is too much yellow.
Below: Nepeta, chives, iris
Salvia, peony, allium, St. John's Wort bush
Peony, baptisia, Oriental poppy (I use both the common and Latin names
when speaking of plants)

Rose

To say that this rose smells amazing isn't doing it justice. I wish I
could bottle it and send it out - it's that wonderful.

Before

Worked on the wasteland that was the space between the sidewalk and the road. It's been an eyesore for years. The soil is really, really bad there.

After

Amended the soil, added lots of new lilies. Carted 5 wheelbarrows full of bad soil up a hill to the backyard. Ouch.

Allium and confused salvia

And we found a whole family of snakes next to the house. Ew.

Azalea starting to bloom

Farewell

We have to cut this tree down soon - new neighbors don't want it
leaning on their property. We'll then have 0 trees on our property.
I'll miss this one flowering...

I've never looked into these tulips before - they're bluish!
Bleeding heart, that was already blooming early April of last year, is
just coming up.

Gorgeous day!

This is what I've been waiting for all winter! High 80s, sun, and a
whole weekend to weed, mow, divide, plant, and look at all of the
plants coming up.
